They say the eyes give away our age more than any other feature, and hooded eyelids are usually what does the talking. The frustrating part is that until quite recently, the only real answer was blepharoplasty, which is eyelid surgery, and plenty of people would rather live with the hooding than book an operation.
Plexr changed that, and it's worth understanding how, because the way it works sounds almost too neat to be true.
No cutting, no stitches
Plexr works by ionising the air between its tip and the skin, creating a tiny plasma arc. That arc tightens and retracts the excess skin instantly, and here's the part that matters: no heat spreads to the surrounding tissue, so the skin around the treated area is left alone.
Because there is no cutting, there are no stitches, and no injectable anaesthetic is needed. Think of the difference between altering a curtain by cutting and re-hemming it, and altering it by gently shrinking just the fabric that hangs over. The second one is Plexr.
What recovery actually looks like
This is where the treatment really earns its popularity. Most people return to work the same day, and healing is measured in days rather than the months an operation can ask of you.
Hooding is far more common than most people think, so if you've been quietly bothered by it for years, you're in very familiar company, and you've been living with something that now has a genuinely gentle fix.
And when surgery really is the better answer
For suitable patients, the tightening is designed to give results comparable to the surgical alternative, which is exactly why it has become such a popular choice. Sometimes, though, the honest answer is that the eyelids need more than tightening, and in that case we'll say so plainly, because we offer eyelid surgery too, through our surgical suite at the same CQC-registered clinic.
That's the real advantage of asking us: whichever answer is true for your eyes, we can do it, so the recommendation you get is the one your face is actually asking for.
The way to find out which you are is a consultation: a conversation about what you'd like to change, an honest look at your eyelids, and a clear answer about what will achieve it. Come and ask us; this one is quicker to settle than you'd think.
